持参品：キャンドルを流し込む小さめの容器（ジャムの瓶やスチール缶など熱に耐えれられるもの）
参加費：300円〜（キャンドル1つ）
※流し込むキャンドル量で料金が変わります。
容器がない場合は元我堂で用意してあるものの中からお選びいただけます（50円〜）。
2003年夏至の日、「100万人のキャンドルナイト」がスタートしました。
もともとはカナダで起こった「カナダの自主停電運動」が始まり。1ヶ月に1基ずつ原子力発電所を建設するという米ブッシュ大統領の政策への反対アピールでした。
2001年に起こったそんな運動を見て「日本でもやってみよう」と言い出したのが明治学院大学教授の辻信一さん。カナダの「自主停電運動」は真っ暗にしますが、それでは子供が暗闇に驚いて泣いてしまう。そこで辻さんは、ろうそくを灯しながらやることを思いつきます。反対運動から始まったことだけれど、1人1人が生活の中でそんな時間を自由に体感していくことが、平和な暮らしへと繋がっていくのかもしれません。
今回元我堂では身近にあるものを使ってキャンドルをつくります。いつも見慣れているものにちょっと手を加えて、違うものに変えてみる。世界で動いてるいろんなものも、ちょっと見方を変えることで変わっていくのかもしれないですね。
